Helllllo Charity Status!

Well hello there! Once again its been a hot minute.  But hey we have been busy chasing dreams and making momories! As many of you know we found out in February that we had been granted official charity status! This is HUGE for us! What that means is that I might return to tapping on these keys. Although the goal might be a little different than past blogs, we do want to keep everyone up to date on where we are at with things. So with that said lets dive into it. With receiving charity status, it means we can truly launch into fundraising and that mad dash to upgrade the boat one last time! Although we love and are grateful for Dare to Dream, we know that there will be people missing out just based on the limitations of our current vessel.  Dont get confused, we will still be moving full speed ahead with hosting guests this summer! We believe in what the waters and nature has to offer and we remain determined to share our experience with as many veterans that are willing...

Finally an update on everything and nothing

Image
So here we sit, keyboard tapping and no true news to report.  Funny how long its been, with delays being hidden on hopes and dreams of sharing good news.   Words hung up on wishes. In truth we know that greatness rarely comes easy, especially to this motley crew. Yet, as we reflect, scream and plan we are humbled by the year that has come to pass. We have had enough wins to warrant a pat on the back... and perhaps grant ourselves a little grace  We can confidently say we are giving it our all.   Not sure if we are still crawling or snuck in some baby steps.....but forward is forward! Let CRA be the judge 🤣 Which as of right now....have asked for more clarification..... Which we are eager to share....however the phone call of help soared high over my head!  Arms flinging to grab any detail I could grab.....to help capture the point form reply they eagerally await!  Insert the plea to lawyers here!  One lawyer office quickly and kindly cr...

Dare to Dream

Image
It's been a hot minute since I've dumped my thoughts onto these pages to share with the world.  It's not because I haven't had time....but instead it seemed that there always would be a better day....and more to tell.  So today as I sit on upon our next vessel, I feel that just maybe that day has come.  Being back was a hard transition.  Without going into details, we both have found that this country has changed.  Toss in the absent friends or distant visits....it was hard to remain focused on why we even came back at all.  Or why we/I were so determined to trade sand for snow angels at all.  The trip we traveled on thepreview is something I wish more had the opportunity to explore.  For within this trip, through the ups and downs, and all of the beautiful sights seen, the greatest gift it may have given us was the appreciation for the lives we CHOSE to live and those we CHOSE to share it with.  From friends and family, and aspiration...

Hard Stop - Cape May

Image
Well our progress has come to a stand still. We remain anchored out in Cape May, as the weather continues to roar with reminders that she is in charge. We remain grateful that we had pushed off when we did, hoping to make a quick and uneventful journey home.   Of courses that is never the case, no matter what life you lead! But hey, you can only make choices based on the things you can control.   And that we did! So now we wait. Trying to busy our minds, and live in the memories this journey has brought. Knowing that there are always lulls to deepen the lessons of life. Yet we still find ourselves laughing, and grateful that after who knows how long of living on the boat, and I mean truly living in a small space with what we will say almost no ability to even go for a walk..... We wouldn't have it any other way! How many people truly can say that they know the person they share their life with? Trust me....there are no secrets on a 32 ft boat in the middle of k...

From there to here - Portsmouth, Virgina

Image
As we lay our anchor down once more on the silt of the sand... We cannot help but become lost in what has come of the days since last we wrote. Our journey home has been much different from when we first started in countless ways. Pushing ourselves to our limits, the miles sail past us....as home creeps into sights. We imagine that in our travels home, we have gained skills and learned lessons, that have allowed us not to tire or curse as quick as we once did. Looking back, I think the journey down was just as exhausting as the one we are on now, but its the parts of us that bare the wear that differs. As we found ourselves in Titusville, making good time, we had decided on one day of rest (mostly because of poor weather conditions)  Falling victim to what we all do, we needed the excuse to stop....instead of allowing ourselves the break itself. (something we all need to work on) Funny (only now) enough, life demanded a longer pause, for as we set out to leave the boat once again r...

Bimini back to FLORIDA and beyond

Image
As she often does,  life has thrown yet another curve ball.  Just the boater style! After finally settling on a plan to make our way back to Florida (as promptly as we could) One engine decided to refuse to head home! "We" went through everything we could think of.....and just when we thought we were making progress, there of course was yet another new development! Luckily we have 2 engines!  However, we sure would like to make our epic redeeming crossing with both available too us! Instead of relying on our SeaTow as our back up! But hey some back up is better than none! Luckily for us, our Bahamian family did not disappoint. There is a reason we struggle to leave this place.  We have come to call these beautiful souls "family"  Each of them adding a layer to our lives that we never even knew was missing! Even as we returned to local shops and restaurants, people welcomed us with hugs and hellos! With all of that said there was still some very very touch ...
