Welcome to Norfolk

Image
Today we survived Today we swallowed our nerves And tackled that what was ahead We had our minds set and our goals just out of reach But together we knew we had to at least try Before the sun rose....or many of you even checked your phones....we gathered our nerves and trudged forward with our plan Today we would try Success didn't lie in moving forward.... Sucees was just in the attempt It was okay to turn back.... It was okay to push forward Success was hidden within the first baby step of simply trying So off we went Greeted by the rising sun And welcomed by the moon that had yet to settle We found our path forward With feelings to victory and validation we sailed on But the days never remain as we wish.... There are always more lessons to be found Humbled once again by the swelling  waves....we were drawn back within our own minds Glancing forward at the horizon - everything seemed so simple...so calm ... A harsh reminder of life...... How our goals ofte...

Antipoison Creek 😭

After weighing the pros and cons we decided to set sail. We had always said we wouldn't travel in bad weather and would wait for the weather to be fair so we could enjoy every moment! However what we have learned is that much like life.....sometimes you have to be in bad weather to avoid worse weather. Knowing we would be safe....but potentially uncomfortable; we decided our goals if dolphins and warmer weather were worth a few moment of discomfort. I won't lie...it seems that everytime I touch the wheel the world tries to swallow us. Even Geoff joked that 'you can't make this  shit up' It's as if the world is more determined then me for me to earn my 'swallow' and sailor strips! All and all it was another gloomy day....with the sun always just out of reach. Setting small goals.....we finally settling on our destination 'antipoison creek' 🤣 We were quickly rewarded with a quick glimpse of a dolphin jumping.....before it moved on.....but he...

Quiet days

We've been quiet for the past few days...mostly because not too much has been on the go. At least in our opinions. The sun hasn't graced us with her presence although the wind has  graciously taken her place. Both Geoff and I seem to be weather dependant (much like all of us) and although we have been chipping away at making our way further south...the views have left much to be desired. We say that knowing many people are dragging themselves out of bed to go somewhere they would rather not be. So we remain humble and grateful for every moment! Even last night as we sat looking down at our gypsy vessel we had to giggle as a fancy family stood and took a series of photos with our boat as the focal point! Reminding us again just how lucky we are and even those who can afford it all can be envious of those that have merely chosing to do it! And do it we are! I will say that today was a day we would have previously been super uncomfortable with.  The waves guiding the boa...

With ever high there comes a low... With even the best days needing to be challenged.  The Ying and Yang of life. Reminding us of the value of each. After all even a high tide is followed by a low tide.  Luckily for us, we both have learned to find the worth in each. Our 'Dolphin Day' was met with the parting from our buddy boat....and perhaps even more humbling our first true ocean day alone.  The morning we set out, we never could have imagined what was awaiting us. And thank the heavens for that. I'm not sure we would have left the dock. But then again we might just have chosen our time differently. Later we learned NEVER leave an inlet on and Ebb flow. (This is important)  We were greeted by waves that easily engulfed the boat. Choosing a side, and avoiding the middle of the inlet.....we soon understood and were grateful for this local wisdom!  Waves crashing and breaking....to our right.....we could see the swell challenging our timing.  Waves...

Dolphin Day

Yesterday was a big day! But then again I guess if your living life...every day is! We laughed as we reflected on how today was are favorite day so far! Stealing yesterday's title, which was merely borrowed from the day before that. It's amazing when you finally give your self the chance to LIVE just how beautiful each day becomes. I do wonder if it's the days that change or the people (aka us). Focusing on what is important to us and thus making more and more room for the things that make each day better. I know I know....more food for the soul! So giddy up! Pick your win each day and see if you find more and more each day you do this silly little goal :)  I double dog dare you! Okay lecture done :) Adventure recap time! We left early ish into the morning, sneaking over to the fuel docks first thing. We fueled up and topped up on water.  We both a little queasy, unsure if it was the mornings breakfast or our nerves!  Perhaps a combination of both! After all...

From Hurricaines to Hells Gate (New York)

As many of you may have read....we crossed the river some days ago to seek shelter and safety in a nearby marina.   The goal was to get some much-needed items done, such as laundry and groceries.   The groceries were a success, the laundry not so much.   Leaving me with a pile of damp and musty clothes, due to a closet that is excellent at capturing the rainfall and saving our bilge the burden of the fallen water.  But hey hiccups.   The marina we had thought would grant us much-needed sleep, and a rest from the worries of locals.   However, much like life, we found ourselves trading one reason for restless sleep for another.   It seems no matter your placement in life, there are always things to overcome.   The brilliance of always being on the "road" is that we never have time to get accustomed to the sounds that surround us, or the new movement of the boat aka bed! For me especially the tides challenge m...
