September 13th


As we all sit comfortably in our defined area of life....we gaze upon others as if they somehow have more of life figured out than us. With shiny profiles and glowing smiles we strive to achieve the same imaginary goal or maybe just as paralyzing, simply stop before we begin, with the belief that it's simply unattainable.


Somewhere between these two approaches to life lies the balance.

We can assure you that despite the awe struck beauty we capture everyday....there are moments that because of varied circumstances, never made it to the life reel.

We touched on it yesterday, with I am sure only a few people giving it much thought.

A mere brief post on a day when we accomplished a set goal we were sure was going to be epic.

Instead we battled waves..and ferries and the lessons that came with it. We barely glimpsed the goal before we had to turn back and reset. This being key! We turned back..we allowed ourselves a moment to step back...regain our composure and prepare a new plan on how to better accomplish our goal.

We didn't fail; although most of you may have given yourself that badge to wear. Instead we are that much closer and that much richer in knowledge.

Never lose sight of that as you chase your own dreams and goals. No matter how big or small...the key is that you learn! Yes...yes..so much easier said then done...but somehow saying it out load may just allow you to quiet the voices in your head on the next hiccup.

Even last night, nestled within a safe little cove....I awoke to the sound of a dragging anchor - nothing too alarming but still worth a peek! In my mind I spirled into worse case scenarios from some of the questionable town folks we met along the way yesterday boarding the boat....to the hurricane catching us off guard. Finally I decided the truth was where I needed to rest my thoughts, freeing myself of the illusion of what ifs. 

So out of bed I went....awaking Geoff and drawing on his thoughts. This quickly resulted in an early morning relocation of the boat within the same hideyhole, just at a greater distance to the rocks and shoreline. As the rain and wind gusted (up to 60 mph) unannounced - we quickly settled back in to START the day of relaxing and resetting.

Was it what we expected - heck no! But with each day we appreciate and reflect.

Point being that in the moment we crashed through the waves of the ferries or scrambled in winds and weather....we never stopped to capture a picture of the chaos! So beyond these words...all everyone will see is the fairytale and believed to be unattainable goals. 

When in truth....we ALL experience both beauty and chaos each and everyday....and while both deserve our respect I caution you on which you focus your energy.

Well those didn't dry out as well as expected!

Finally an update on everything and nothing

So here we sit, keyboard tapping and no true news to report.  Funny how long its been, with delays being hidden on hopes and dreams of sharing good news.   Words hung up on wishes. In truth we know that greatness rarely comes easy, especially to this motley crew. Yet, as we reflect, scream and plan we are humbled by the year that has come to pass. We have had enough wins to warrant a pat on the back... and perhaps grant ourselves a little grace  We can confidently say we are giving it our all.   Not sure if we are still crawling or snuck in some baby steps.....but forward is forward! Helllllo Charity Status!

  Well hello there! Once again its been a hot minute.  But hey we have been busy chasing dreams and making momories! As many of you know we found out in February that we had been granted official charity status! This is HUGE for us! What that means is that I might return to tapping on these keys. Although the goal might be a little different than past blogs, we do want to keep everyone up to date on where we are at with things. So with that said lets dive into it. With receiving charity status, it means we can truly launch into fundraising and that mad dash to upgrade the boat one last time! Although we love and are grateful for Dare to Dream, we know that there will be people missing out just based on the limitations of our current vessel.  Dont get confused, we will still be moving full speed ahead with hosting guests this summer! We believe in what the waters and nature has to offer and we remain determined to share our experience with as many veterans that are willing...

4800 km to go! But whos counting!

Another pin in our hats and a notch in our belts! Thats right...we are heading back! We had a few guests take us up on our offer to come visit, although not as many as we had hoped or thought might come.  But than again we didn't really know what to expect. Either way we are happy to have had the chance to share a piece of this chapter with you!  And remind you and others that our doors are always open! Canada is just as beautiful in its own way, as the blue seas of the Bahamas! We think it will be sometime before we venture down this way on a boat again. We learned that others were right! It wasn't a cheap trip, BUT it was worth every penny.... We prefer to live our life than wish we had! With that said....time to start saving again! (we are dreamers but we aren't stupid - we still have more dreams to live!)
