Fort Lauderdale: The Carrot State

Okay so here we go....Lets see if I can even begin to capture the last little bit.

Too be honest I have been working on this very blog posts off and on for a few days....overwhelmed by my inability to capture the emotionally ups and downs and purity of all that is happening.

Its been one heck of a ride here in paradise, to say the very least.

Im not even sure how many days have passed since we got renovated by an unnamed windstorm, but it feels like forever.

I think we both have struggled with Fort Lauderdale since day 1, and yet its the longest place we have been. (could there be a correlation?) Its forever the place that we are always so close to leaving and yet never seem to be able to catch that carrot!

Honestly it's not Fort Lauderdale, it's us. We have come to accept that we are nomadic at heart and get a little stir crazy when we stay in one place for too long. We seek routine and yet never to do the same thing twice! We are a dilemma, to say the least.

So as we sit/float....a mere dinghy ride away from the Ocean and beach...with a growing number of friends in the area, and photos from back "home" of winter filling our social media; its hard to imagine anyone feeling any sense of unrest.....or eagerness to move on....and yet life doesn't really follow that logic or any logic at all.  Life is lived from the heart, and challenged by the mind...with our devotion to find the balance asked of every moment.

Now we have been busy...don't get me wrong.

The windstorm stole our attention, but with the help of a very dear friend...we were able to tackle many of the last-minute projects that will continue to allow us our freedom!

His help and timing has been a lifesaver!

Yet again reinforcing that everything happens for a reason. Without him, sure we would have got the repairs done, but I with many more tears and pauses and breaths.

But we are here.

We have a fantastic new water maker installed! So we never have to hunt for water again!!!!

And in news that is only important to boaters....we also now have a macerater!

This was probably one of the few scary moments that was truly self-induced! Holding a drill in hand to the side of our boat.....what could possibly go wrong (insert every single emotion here!!!)

But hey we are still floating!!!!

We also managed to figure out the most expensive and gypsy way to have shade on the back deck!

And of course the solar panels .....

We have decided the safest place for them will be glued to the front of the boat! Yes we loose our outdoor lounging space...but hey soon we will be able to roll out our floating mat in blue waters right?

Seems like power beats sunbathing :)  Sadly, even these gymspy souls have to succumb to logic from time to time.....But damn that Catarmarn is going to be sweet once we get there!

Like the convenience store guys dad always said....

"Life doesnt happen to you

It happens for you!"

So we shall trust in the process and take a breath or two.....and remind ourselves that THIS moment is more important than the one we are chasing!

The taste of determination!
