Fort Lauderdale wins again!

As you scroll through our photos, you may find you mind wandering, guided by envy and wishful thinking. 

When the truth is, this adventure could just as easily be yours.

With one change in thought and one step of bravery....you could be living the life you have always dreamed of. I know it doesn't seem THAT easy...and trust me it isn't. Change is scary and often feels impossible! And yet change happens every day and some how when we have no choice...we find a way!

So many people we know feel trapped by their lives, and yet refuse to see that it is their own decisions that hold them on the path they are on and it is them alone that lays the foundation to the walls they hide behind. 

The key is too ensure that as you live each day, you MAKE the time to ensure that you are truly living.

That you are ACTIVELY making decisions that are right for who you are today, and not getting caught up in who you were or who you thought you would be.

Even now as we sit floating, waiting for the weather to pass and making sure we are here to react in case it does; we are checking in.

These moments of reflection always seem easier when something stressful has happened. In our case, we awoke this morning after a fairly restless night. As per our luck we have the joy of experiencing the 4th worst December in the history of Florida. (true story)  

The sound of the anchor alarm demanded our attention; spinning us into full action mode.

I wish there had been time to set up the camera because I am sure it would have been worth a chuckle! With the anchor no longer secure, we rushed back and forth from the front of the boat to the helm....from inside to out and back again. Watching as the near by boats grew closer and their dwellers stirred at the sound of our engines firing up!  

Luckily we were able to reset...and seeing as it was 4 am and we had already run our engines and woke everyone up; it only seemed fair to sneak on the generator so that we could sip on some well-earned coffee! Something we would normally wait until at least 7 am to do! See the bright side! No damage to any boats AND fresh coffee :) 

With coffee in hand, we sat and discussed what had happened and how to best prepare ourselves to avoid it in the future. (always set the anchor alarm, leave the helm uncovered and/or easily accessible and lastly a quick lesson on lingo and batteries: check, check, check)  

Oh Florida....we almost love you....you will for sure make seeing those blue waters of the Bahamas rewarding!! (fingers and toes are still crossed - extra well wishes and good vibes welcome! )

I will say that Florida definitely gave us a reason to stop and think of what we hope for in the future.
Not surprisingly; we have a few new ideas for next year....or well I suppose this summer!

Not even we know what will happen or what direction life will take us!

Remember that whole rambling about taking the time to check in and make the best choice for the person/people you are NOW. 

One journey at a time! 
And right now....this journey leaves us nestled in the white caps of Lake Sylvia!

Finally an update on everything and nothing

So here we sit, keyboard tapping and no true news to report.  Funny how long its been, with delays being hidden on hopes and dreams of sharing good news.   Words hung up on wishes. In truth we know that greatness rarely comes easy, especially to this motley crew. Yet, as we reflect, scream and plan we are humbled by the year that has come to pass. Helllllo Charity Status!

  Well hello there! Once again its been a hot minute.  But hey we have been busy chasing dreams and making momories! As many of you know we found out in February that we had been granted official charity status! This is HUGE for us! What that means is that I might return to tapping on these keys. Although the goal might be a little different than past blogs, we do want to keep everyone up to date on where we are at with things. So with that said lets dive into it. With receiving charity status, it means we can truly launch into fundraising and that mad dash to upgrade the boat one last time! Although we love and are grateful for Dare to Dream, we know that there will be people missing out just based on the limitations of our current vessel.  Dont get confused, we will still be moving full speed ahead with hosting guests this summer! We believe in what the waters and nature has to offer and we remain determined to share our experience with as many veterans that are willing...

4800 km to go! But whos counting!

Another pin in our hats and a notch in our belts! Thats right...we are heading back! We had a few guests take us up on our offer to come visit, although not as many as we had hoped or thought might come.  But than again we didn't really know what to expect. Either way we are happy to have had the chance to share a piece of this chapter with you!  And remind you and others that our doors are always open! Canada is just as beautiful in its own way, as the blue seas of the Bahamas! We think it will be sometime before we venture down this way on a boat again. We learned that others were right! It wasn't a cheap trip, BUT it was worth every penny.... We prefer to live our life than wish we had! With that said....time to start saving again! (we are dreamers but we aren't stupid - we still have more dreams to live!)
