The Scars of Bimini
If you read our last entry some of you were able to sketch together an image of our dreams bleeding into the reality of what it truly is. Which is honestly the true goal of this blog.
Not everything is as it seems, and somewhere along the line, mankind developed an extraordinary gift of focusing on everything that isn't ours...oppose to the own wonders that surround us.
As if everyone else knew something we didn't....and that somehow if only we could get to where they were...or do what they were doing...everything would be so much easier.
Yet in truth that only leads us down a path further from our own happiness.
So by sharing the ups and downs of this beautiful life journey, we hope you will begin to see your own.
If you were to write your own blog...what would your story be? Its worth the moment of thought....(I mean it!! STOP reading and THINK about it....not just with your mind but what do you FEEL in your heart- whats that little voice you are so determined to ignore have to say)
In the meantime we have managed to gather together as many lessons as we could...and tuck them away neatly into our hearts...somewhere next to the scars left on our souls.....
As someone I knew once said (or maybe Im making it up)...scars are merely memories of the past...neither good nor bad....but memories we will carry forward into each day.
Here in Bimini, we find ourselves finally settling into the beauty of everything it has to offer.
Almost 1 month in, we can say we are much happier than we were in Florida...however maybe thats because OF our time in Florida. Who knows if one would have existed without the other.
Bimini hosts its share of HARD lessons, but talk about Ying and Yang.
We have also found the most WONDERFUL and beautiful memories here.
At our very lowest, we met a young man...who stode on the dock one night....as we were out watching the beautiful dance of 2 Bullsharks....
Already in awe of what we were witnessing, and humbled with appreciation....for everything mother nature was blessing us with....we would not been able to guess that this kind man with bags in hand...was there FOR US!
He had overheard us talking to his company about some of our challenges....and without a thought went out of his way to create his own personal care that he had hoped would brighten our day.
Standing there...(and even thinking back now)...tears filled our eyes. Our hearts and souls bursting with emotions that seem just as overpowering now as they did in that very moment.
A pure humbled appreciation of what the world was trying to tell us.
This young man's gesture was EXACTLY what we needed at the EXACT moment we needed it.
Trying to grasp for words that would explain the depth of the impact his kindness carried....we were almost speechless.
We didn't get his name...nor will he probably ever read these words....but that moment will be a scar we carry with us forever. Such an extraordinary gift of compassion and kindness.
You truly never know just how important you might be to a stranger you do not even recall.
So please be kind.
Since that night Bimini has earned a special place in our hearts. With discussions on if we were going to leave it at all.
So many people here have gone out of their way to welcome us....with a few we are sure to see again!
With a million and one decisions ahead of us...We have decided that we will push on.
Awaiting our Buddy Boat (remember the one we met in Cornwall, Ontario!) We hope they will join us soon, and we will be off to meet more beautiful people tucked away in this extraordinary world.
But we will be back...
From the blue beaches and nature-filled waters the people of Bimini will always call to us....Who knows we might just call it home someday!
