Staniel Cay to Bimini!

We are back safe and sound in Bimini (South)

Our goal was to make it to our push off point, so that we could be ready for when the weather granted us the opportunity to head a little closer to home.

This next part of the trip will be a BIG one for us....

For those that read the blog of our original crossing, or heck had messaged us your concerns during this time, we don't have to remind you just how scary and unsettling it was!

This time we are determined to apply EVERY lesson we have learned and redeem ourselves.

However, even in our "rush" to get back here, the Bahamas was sure to cram in as many lifelong memories as it could.  

While we waited in Staniel Cay to head out....Geoff had the opportunity to once again jump in and swim with one of the largest Nurse Sharks yet!

I however, lingered on the boat, debating on weather this was the day I would also jump in.

Only to find myself missing out on the opportunity as the shark swam away as I finally mustered up the nerve to get in.

This disappointed however was not without a lesson or two.

Number 1: 

Its those that seize every moment that will live the most experiences

Number 2: (a little more complicated)

When you strive to push yourself outside your comfort zones, you are bound to find the boundaries that hold you.

Sure I missed this chance....BUT I did get in the water and finally at least tried to capture this experience.

So many people remind us everyday how they wish they could take the leap that we have.....

So heck....I am going to allow myself a little grace in being slow to jump in with Sharks :)

Besides we are pretty much in the shark capitol now.....so you just never know!

When we finally did head off we were truly left in awe as a pod of (we think) short finned pilot whales swam directly under our boat!  With more diving to the left of us....we could not believe what was happening.

Every time we are in the ocean we ask for whales....(although we never really hear of anyone seeing them)

Yet here they were! All around us!

This was only followed by what I will say was my favourite day in the Bahamas to date.

Waking up anchored off of a very small "island" (Rum Cay) We were greeted with the most beautiful start of any day.  The stars twinkled over head....untouched by the lights of society and seeming to engulf the sea as the comb jellies (glowing jelly fish) shone beneath the surface.

We could not help but stop and take it all in, giving thanks and honouring just how lucky we are.

As we finally lifted the anchor, we drove off under the stars watching as the sun broke the horizon and offered her best performance yet!  

A remarkable day, that ended with us back safe and sound in what feels like our home away from home.

Our boat sailing through the bluest of waters....with more shades that one can count.

Finally coming to rest back in the safety of friends.

It is here we sit......embracing the smiling faces and awaiting our chance to make the redeeming journey back across into US waters....

Its as if another chapter has closed, and we are just waiting to begin the next.

Until than, we will lap up every last memory the Bahamas has to offer.....

With some epic adventures hidden in the days to come!

Finally an update on everything and nothing

So here we sit, keyboard tapping and no true news to report.  Funny how long its been, with delays being hidden on hopes and dreams of sharing good news.   Words hung up on wishes. In truth we know that greatness rarely comes easy, especially to this motley crew. Yet, as we reflect, scream and plan we are humbled by the year that has come to pass. Helllllo Charity Status!

  Well hello there! Once again its been a hot minute.  But hey we have been busy chasing dreams and making momories! As many of you know we found out in February that we had been granted official charity status! This is HUGE for us! What that means is that I might return to tapping on these keys. Although the goal might be a little different than past blogs, we do want to keep everyone up to date on where we are at with things. So with that said lets dive into it. With receiving charity status, it means we can truly launch into fundraising and that mad dash to upgrade the boat one last time! Although we love and are grateful for Dare to Dream, we know that there will be people missing out just based on the limitations of our current vessel.  Dont get confused, we will still be moving full speed ahead with hosting guests this summer! We believe in what the waters and nature has to offer and we remain determined to share our experience with as many veterans that are willing...

4800 km to go! But whos counting!

Another pin in our hats and a notch in our belts! Thats right...we are heading back! We had a few guests take us up on our offer to come visit, although not as many as we had hoped or thought might come.  But than again we didn't really know what to expect. Either way we are happy to have had the chance to share a piece of this chapter with you!  And remind you and others that our doors are always open! Canada is just as beautiful in its own way, as the blue seas of the Bahamas! We think it will be sometime before we venture down this way on a boat again. We learned that others were right! It wasn't a cheap trip, BUT it was worth every penny.... We prefer to live our life than wish we had! With that said....time to start saving again! (we are dreamers but we aren't stupid - we still have more dreams to live!)
