Reset and Regrounded

Image
Whoever says boating is relaxing always makes me ask how much time they have spent on a boat! Last night again I awoke with the wind blowing and the snaps of the canvas slapping loudly against the window. This isn't a worry normally but now my senses heightened, each sound reminded me of the night before and the strong winds and rains that had demanded our attention.  Forcing myself to try to fall quietly back to sleep, I finally crawled out of bed to attend to the loose items that remained on deck. Reminding myself that if I didn't we would have earned the lose shoe or donated cushion that had floated by just yegaterday.  Remembering the towels pinned to the bow (front of the boat) I moved up the side of the boat...above where Geoff lay trying to sleep. Successfully gathering the towels (despite the winds effort)  I began to move along the side of the boat once more. Greeted by the screams of what Geoff has deemed a teradactle, a heron screamed at me, causing me to c...

September 13th

As we all sit comfortably in our defined area of life....we gaze upon others as if they somehow have more of life figured out than us. With shiny profiles and glowing smiles we strive to achieve the same imaginary goal or maybe just as paralyzing, simply stop before we begin, with the belief that it's simply unattainable. Somewhere between these two approaches to life lies the balance. We can assure you that despite the awe struck beauty we capture everyday....there are moments that because of varied circumstances, never made it to the life reel. We touched on it yesterday, with I am sure only a few people giving it much thought. A mere brief post on a day when we accomplished a set goal we were sure was going to be epic. Instead we battled waves..and ferries and the lessons that came with it. We barely glimpsed the goal before we had to turn back and reset. This being key! We turned back..we allowed ourselves a moment to step back...regain our composure and prepare a new plan ...

And we are off...back to where we were....just one person shy of what we were yesterday! Here's to new memories and shared lessons.  We truly are grateful for the people we continue to share our lives with. If you cannot say the same...it might just be time to do a heart check on if the people you share your time with are worthy of it. Remember...our lives are a reflection of OUR choices....not others.  So back we went to our little hidey-hole, safe from what nature is brewing up for us next.  There is a reason we tag ourselves as "cocaptiansinchoas" because surely there has never been a storm like last winter when we were the first winter liveaboards in Brockville, or of course the epic storms aka Hurricaines that are deciding to meet us in New York City.  Even t he safest of plans have a twist. (don't freak out mum we are still safe!) I remember telling my family once upon a time that IF something were ever to happen to me while I was at work, to know I chose my p...

Day 2: July 16th

Image
Day 2: July 16 (7 am) Well that was a start to a day.  After a stunning and successful day yesterday, today decided to remind us that we still have some work ahead of us, with lessons we “learned” but didn't apply fully, to things we were going to get bumped up on the list  to now! Overnight we had set anchor in a safe anchorage, knowing that our anchor had been acting up.  By this I mean that we had tried to drop anchor just last week and the line wouldn't go in or out…which is sorta key when it comes to dropping anchor…..Sadly we had hoped we could wait but yet again we had been proven wrong.  Fast forward to 4 am…the sky was lighting up and the wind was wiping up, and there we sat watching to see just how safe we truly were.    Sure enough the anchor alarm screamed at us to take action.  The goal was to lift anchor and to relocate to a safer location, thanks to a little foreshadowing, I already ruined the surprise that of course the anchor wo...

Day to be update but hey the date is September 11, 2023

September 11, 2023 - We survived! Today as we awoke, all a little groggy we were unsure of the plans of the day.  We knew the goal was to reach New York City, and gracefully circle the Statue of Liberty.  A tale told to us by many fellow boaters, some even silly enough to anchor the night. We chatted leading up to this moment about going live....calling friends...photos we would take and memories we would cherish. Debating on our departure...watching the approaching Hurricane Lee....we sat contemplating.  Aboard with us for this leg of the journey sits a friend, whose goal is also to see the Statue before heading back home to chase his own dreams. So with a quick chat...and discussion of how to safely stay as far away from Lee as possible we quickly head off. Traveling down the Hudson we were once again left amazed by its beauty. The cliffs/mountains blanketed by what seemed to be whimsical clouds. Bridges that span greater than the eye can see, with their ends...

Day 1 (Recap) July 15,2023

Day 1: July 15 (written on day 2 because new habits are hard to stick too especially when you havent started them!)    This morning after a night of fireworks we have finally decided to head out! We are both excited to start what seems to me like Day 1 (hence the title) of our adventure….although Geoff is probably right….its really just page 1 of a new chapter.  Either way its going to be epic! Fuck ordinary….we are determined to take this life in and drag as many of you as we can along with us!  This means annoying posts…and asks, prompting people to come visit. The goal being to allow people a chance to experience life through our eyes…and realign with life.   Yes…yes…I know….one day you will be lucky enough to do what we are doing. However, the truth is that day was yesterday and the day before that….too many of us die WAITING for the perfect moment to live the life they want. Assuming you are one of the lucky ones that even know that that is. ...

DAY Something

Image
Today we started our day early leaving from a quick stay at 'Rondout Marina'. As most places staff we're over the top wonderful! Town was a quick Uber away which we are happy to report we made it home safely from despite our ninja packing driver! Which fpunny enough it was still safer than another scooter ride to town along side beautiful winding, shoulder less roads! Despite rain and clouds it only only made the most stunning views even more breathe taking! We truly cannot explain how much more beautiful each day gets! and for those following the journey we are not even close to blue water! With that said tomorrow will leave it's own unique scar! *Mom we will catch you on the way back and male sure your on board!!! We say goodnight safely anchored and enjoying humbling thoughts and dreams of tomorrow! Never stop chasing the dreams of tomorrow while living today!!!
