Back to where it all began- Still in Fort Lauderdale

So here we sit.. Back at a Marina we both love and hate... Back where we lost our canvas, solar panels and freedom. Back to being stuck in a beautiful place that holds us captive from our goal! Back to where we never wanted to be.  Thanks to Geoff and his sane perspective we filed our insurance claim. Its funny how horrible I feel when doing nothing wrong.  We all know that feeling when we go through customs or a Police boat/car pulls up.  Somehow there is instant panic in the exact moment we should feel safe and protected. (Yes Geoff was Military and my Family is OPP) Doesn't change a thing BUT remind me just how broken we are as a society.  Needless to say....I feel guilty after 4 days floating without power....and without a response from insurance for pushing for follow up. For being the squeaky wheel.  For the record this is the EXACT reason I HATED the idea of filling another claim.  Somehow through ZERO fault of our own, I have been made to feel...

The Billion dollar home - Lake Sylvia

Image
Perspective is everything  Tucked away in a bay where the sunshine glistens across our skin, we gaze upon houses that we wonder are ever truly lived in.  We sit in a silly swing chair hung on hopes and dreams and wonder if the people inside the billion dollar homes have ever had a home at all.  Guilty of judging or writing a strangers story, I giggle at the fact that they do the same.  They look out their freshly clean windows, dressed in their freshly pressed pajamas at the rift raft that floats outside thier billion dollar home for free..... Two worlds mere meters apart....without a glimpse of understanding of the other.  As we sit eating our cold chili straight from a can....I smile at a man that makes me feel richer than any billion dollar home.  And I cannot help but wonder of the empty halls we gaze upon Wishing them true happiness and wonder if they do the same.

Hello my friends ( Fort Lauderdale)

Hello again our dear friends, Not sure who has missed us, or who has checked in but here we are again. We will see how long it lasts but for now....We are here. Just like anyone and any tasks, we are living moment by moment and focusing our energy on what feels right. This trip has been a journey, to say the very least.   Both in miles our dear boat has safely guided us through to those that are now branded into our souls. Memories we will cherish, and those that we are happy to say we survived. All in all, tis life.   No matter WHAT you are doing....life will happen. Things you see on social media will allow you to use up all your positive energy glorifying someone else's life at the cost of your own. Such a strange creature we are. After working so long with so many different animals, humans are by far the ones I will never understand. We pride ourselves on being this superior creature, untouched by any other species, and yet with it comes the cost of being in th...

North Carolina!

I have been quiet the last few days... With some things heavier than words can express and not worth trying to explain.  Every journey has its moments  Those that demand silence.  Entering Norfolk, I wasn't prepared for what would become our world.  Surrounded by Navy ships.... We were dwarfed in size..... Faced with what those ships had seen...or had yet to experience.  Whatever the case....it wasn't one that left us with much to write about.  It was as if our words were silenced by what should be known.  Such a crazy world this is!  We always think we know so much more than that which truly is.  Always lost in our own perception.  We met so many wonderful and kind souls there in Norfolk.....yet just couldn't shake the unknown.  Finally making our way towards North Carolina.....we were able to regain our sense of balance....maybe even a sylable or two.  Watching the industrial world change and nature trying to resume its role....

Welcome to Norfolk

Today we survived Today we swallowed our nerves And tackled that what was ahead We had our minds set and our goals just out of reach But together we knew we had to at least try Before the sun rose....or many of you even checked your phones....we gathered our nerves and trudged forward with our plan Today we would try Success didn't lie in moving forward.... Sucees was just in the attempt It was okay to turn back.... It was okay to push forward Success was hidden within the first baby step of simply trying So off we went Greeted by the rising sun And welcomed by the moon that had yet to settle We found our path forward With feelings to victory and validation we sailed on But the days never remain as we wish.... There are always more lessons to be found Humbled once again by the swelling  waves....we were drawn back within our own minds Glancing forward at the horizon - everything seemed so simple...so calm ... A harsh reminder of life...... How our goals ofte...

Antipoison Creek 😭

Image
After weighing the pros and cons we decided to set sail. We had always said we wouldn't travel in bad weather and would wait for the weather to be fair so we could enjoy every moment! However what we have learned is that much like life.....sometimes you have to be in bad weather to avoid worse weather. Knowing we would be safe....but potentially uncomfortable; we decided our goals if dolphins and warmer weather were worth a few moment of discomfort. I won't lie...it seems that everytime I touch the wheel the world tries to swallow us. Even Geoff joked that 'you can't make this  shit up' It's as if the world is more determined then me for me to earn my 'swallow' and sailor strips! All and all it was another gloomy day....with the sun always just out of reach. Setting small goals.....we finally settling on our destination 'antipoison creek' 🤣 We were quickly rewarded with a quick glimpse of a dolphin jumping.....before it moved on.....but he...

Quiet days

Image
We've been quiet for the past few days...mostly because not too much has been on the go. At least in our opinions. The sun hasn't graced us with her presence although the wind has  graciously taken her place. Both Geoff and I seem to be weather dependant (much like all of us) and although we have been chipping away at making our way further south...the views have left much to be desired. We say that knowing many people are dragging themselves out of bed to go somewhere they would rather not be. So we remain humble and grateful for every moment! Even last night as we sat looking down at our gypsy vessel we had to giggle as a fancy family stood and took a series of photos with our boat as the focal point! Reminding us again just how lucky we are and even those who can afford it all can be envious of those that have merely chosing to do it! And do it we are! I will say that today was a day we would have previously been super uncomfortable with.  The waves guiding the boa...
