Decisions "1" down!

Image
Finally settling in, We find ourselves ALMOST getting into a routine or at least starting to think about what we want that routine to look like. The funniest part is that before we even get it going we will be on the move again with a list of new excuses. It's been amazing to learn just how much our old thinking habits exist no matter where we are and what we are faced with. Finding time and the motivation to work out...still comes in waves... Our need to step back and look at the finances  finds us slipping back....hearing the voices of everyone who told us just how expensive this would be!  We thought we could resist the temptations of beach beers with new friends and tasty meals from local restaurants. Turns out we can't! (heaven help us) Thinking that once we get home maybe we can get back on track!  The typical life approach of not dealing with the truth today and sweeping it to tomorrow. After looking at the numbers....and weighing our options and emotions we are ba...

We Made it! - George Town, Bahamas!

Image
Such a strange day.... The day we finally made it. It seemed as tho we kept setting new finish lines...and new goals First Florida.... then Bimini and then finally the morning we set out towards George town. This wasn't intentional but hey living in the moment does funny things. Subconsciously, setting achievable goals and making time to celebrate every win!! (which I think means we are progressing and finding our way outside the restraints of our past lives) This time though, this goal.....it was different, we felt it in the belly of our emotions! Both of us knew that THIS was the true finish line. It was some years ago that we flew down to visit friends in this exact location, to stay on their boat. Neither one of us ever even dreaming that we would one day make the journey on our own boat! Instead, we were in awe that we had friends that were kind enough to share this opportunity with little ol' us.  Snickering to ourselves, as we wondered if they actually ever thought we wo...

Normans Cay- Stuck in a postcard

Human nature is a funny one.... Locked into everything that doesn't serve us. Some people see it, and strive to break free and forge their own path.  Yet even then the struggle to not fall into old habits seems almost impossible.  Today we awoke to a beautiful anchorage!  The waters are what is often featured on post cards.  The beaches are soft with sand as white as snow, but of course warm to every step as what feels like soft powder pushes up between your toes.  Surrounded by breath taking hills and caves that shelter you from the winds, it's a rare moment of safety. The catch? Twice a day the moment rolls around when you must decide if NOW is when you push on.  Only twice a day will the water be replenished enough to allow for safe passage outside its walls.  And to be honest one of these happens at night fall, which means really you have 1 option.  A decision that must be made everyday.... And today was the day.... We watched as 100 boats dwi...

The Scars of Bimini

Image
If you read our last entry some of you were able to sketch together an image of our dreams bleeding into the reality of what it truly is. Which is honestly the true goal of this blog. Not everything is as it seems, and somewhere along the line, mankind developed an extraordinary gift of focusing on everything that isn't ours...oppose to the own wonders that surround us.   As if everyone else knew something we didn't....and that somehow if only we could get to where they were...or do what they were doing...everything would be so much easier. Yet in truth that only leads us down a path further from our own happiness. So by sharing the ups and downs of this beautiful life journey, we hope you will begin to see your own. If you were to write your own blog...what would your story be? Its worth the moment of thought....(I mean it!! STOP reading and THINK about it....not just with your mind but what do you FEEL in your heart- whats that little voice you are so determined to ignore h...

Hindsight (20/20/20) - Bimini, Bahamas

Image
As some of you have taken notice... We have fell quiet recently. It's an understatement to say that life has humbled us. It seems that no matter where you are in life....and what you think you might know... There is always so so much more. This year has been a difficult one. And this journey has not been something I will sugarcoat with fairytales. In truth, almost everyday challenges schooled us in life. Finally, we thought we were set.... Bandaged together after the two storms that took apart our boat piece by piece in Florida. Trying to learn the weather, tides and currents...we found ourselves still moving forward with what seemed to be almost uneducated decisions.  As if the hours debating, checking, and referring to countless insights, never even existed. As we set out for our first crossing (Florida to Bimini, Bahamas) we were nervous.  Honestly, I cannot even say I was excited.  I think my nerves won this round....and even as I tried to quiet my bra...

The highest of highs and lowest of lows - You guessed it! Fort Lauderdale

Image
HUGE sigh of relief...something apparently I do often without any realization that I am actually going through the motions.  Whether it be a huff or sigh....I can feel the moment my body gives in to releasing whatever stress that seems to be trying to weazle its way into my soul. Last night earned its place in one of the lowest of lows in this adventure.  Coming in second place to Christmas eve (when we actually had to abandon the boat and seek shelter)  Nestled in an anchorage in Fort Lauderale, last night we watched as the winds continued to grow, tossing us and our boat around like we were mere pebbles of sand.  As the winds changed so did the security of the boats that surrounded us.   Our heart going out to a single manned sail boat. Watching as the man tried to manually drop anchor a mere boats length from ours!  Holding our breath we hoped; I'm sure just as hard as he did, that his anchor held and he wouldn't be sent smashing into us!...

Fort Lauderdale wins again!

As you scroll through our photos, you may find you mind wandering, guided by envy and wishful thinking.  When the truth is, this adventure could just as easily be yours. With one change in thought and one step of bravery....you could be living the life you have always dreamed of. I know it doesn't seem THAT easy...and trust me it isn't. Change is scary and often feels impossible! And yet change happens every day and some how when we have no choice...we find a way! So many people we know feel trapped by their lives, and yet refuse to see that it is their own decisions that hold them on the path they are on and it is them alone that lays the foundation to the walls they hide behind.  The key is too ensure that as you live each day, you MAKE the time to ensure that you are truly living. That you are ACTIVELY making decisions that are right for who you are today, and not getting caught up in who you were or who you thought you would be. Even now as we sit floating, waiting for ...
